First few days

21 juli 2022 - Daneș, Roemenië

It is already the sixth day of this Romania adventure. Saturday after arriving at the airport I went by taxi to heartbeats festival in the Cluj Arena. The taxi driver spoke Romanian and German, so it was a nice challenge to tell where to go in German. I wasn't sure if she understood me, so just to be sure I called Liviu (the founder of Perspective Danes) so he could tell the taxi driver in the Romanian language where to go. After a few minutes I arrived at the festival. There I met Liviu and some other people I knew. That was great. Also the festival was really nice. I was there for a few hours but it was great to see so many people praising God. John Maxwell from the United States was a speaker during the evening. He is a leadership expert who has written different books. He talked about to be intentional in different areas; in you personal growth, in your faith and in your significance. Personal growth has to do with finding out your passion. Spiritual growth has to do with the way you live. And significance is that it's not going about us, but about others. I think the things he said were inspiring. After his talk there was the band Planetshakers from Australia. That was really nice. Around 00.00 we drove for around 2 hours to Danes, the place where the project is.

Sunday was a relaxing day. Just hanging around the community centre, enjoying the sun and I walked through and around the centre. I am so amazed by this place. Like 7 years ago when I was here for the first time there was only a piece of grasland. We were walking over the field and Liviu told his dreams for the land. And now there is a beautiful community centre which is serving so many people. It's a lesson to follow your heart and to trust that God will provide it in.

Sunday evening a group from Switzerland came. A group from the Master's Commission Biel and also a part of the youth group of Jahu Biel. It's so great to be with them. Like the most of them I got to know when I was in Switzerland and some I didn't met before. But I enjoy being part of the group and to join the program.

Monday we first got an overview of the week and afterwards we started preparing in different small groups. I helped by preparing the evening for the widows which was planned for that evening. I enjoyed the evening. The widows are so nice. And its great to see how they are as group. How they are supporting eachother and how much they like it to come together. During the evening we first had time to connect with them and to talk. Afterwards we did some songs and then we did crafting. The task was to think about the most important lesson you have learned and to write that down in one word on a canvas. Afterwards you could draw something on the canvas what was linked with the word you wrote down. It was great to see how the widows were doing it and that they helped eachother with drawing. I have seen different words they wrote down like; love, friends, return. I think we had a good time together.

Tuesday morning we had a program with the Ukrain refugees. During this time there was a theatre play with a message, and crafting with the kids, drinking coffee with the adults and we did a short talentshow. I think we had a good time with them. During the talentshow I did together with some other students of last MC year the dance we learned. That was pretty fun.

In the afternoon I went together with two other girls and a lady from the UK who lives here for 2 years now, to a widow to visit her. We talked with here about here life and she had made pancakes for us. That was very nice. She told that her grandson likes to go haunting. Later the grandson invited us to go shooting in the backyard. He had a gun with I don't know exactly what was in there but it was safe.

In the evening we went to Roara, a roma village and there we have done a family program. We did dancing, playing with kids, prayer time with the adults, input and we had dinner with them. During this evening there was a lady and she collected all the food plates who weren't empty yet. And I was touched by seeing how hungry she was and also by seeing how much she enjoyed the program. I saw a hunger to food by her but also another kind of hunger. Also when I asked her if I could pray for her, she also was hungry for that.

Wednesday morning four others and me went again to visit a widow. It was nice to hear about her life. It was also touching in a way. Because at the end we asked for prayer. And she said I have financial difficulties but I don't want that you pray for money but I want you to pray for health. It's great to see that health and family is more important for them then money.

In the afternoon we went to another village named Valchid, to do kids program there. I always really love it to be there. And to spent time with the kids. It brings always so much joy for them and also for us actually.
In the evening we had time for us as team. We went to a place what it a bit higher so we could see over the city Sighisoara. There we had some time to share how we are doing, to pray, to worship and to share impressions we had. It was a really good time. A highlight for me was when we sung the blessing song and we all turned with our face to the city to bless all the people there. It was touching.
Afterwards we went to a bar in Sighisoara to drink something and to spent time as a team. I really enjoyed.

So, I think this is it for now. There is a lot to do here. There are a lot of great things happening. So, keep it into your prayers and I hope to write soon again. Be blessed!
